Darrel is the Best!

    Alright guys, So I just finished watching the Stash Short Film Festival: Comedy. A compilation of 7 short films in the comedy category. The first short film Fired on Mars was funny in a very dry comedic sense. Don’t get me wrong I like dry comedy but this being the introduction to the compilation was a total snooze fest. I spent the duration of the film with a scrunched brow and a smirk on my face, so yeah ‘it was funny’.

    The film that made me burst into a full cackle was Darrel. Absolutely the best film in the Stash compilation. It was so original, funny, and absurd. It stars Darrel, an anthropomorphic chameleon in subway station snacking on some flies while he waits for the train to come. But what makes this so funny, and, in my opinion, comedic genius is that instead of eating his flies straight from the jar, he grabs one at a time, releases it, and just as the fly starts to fly away, he snatches it out of the air with his tongue; genius. That little moment caught me off guard and immediately had me hooked in. I could have easily watched a full-length feature film with Darrel.

    What made "Darrell" stand out to me was the fact that the short film did not use any sound. The chameleon hilariously displayed comical actions while trying his best to be a flirt. It was obvious to the audience what he was trying to do even without words. I think the lack of words made the short even funnier. The way the chameleon moved and acted with facial expressions said more than any words could.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is Absurd!

     Alright, so I finally got around to watching Everything Everywhere All At Once a couple of days ago and first impressions… wow… what a weird fucking movie. But definitely not weird in a bad way, I guess. The storyline is fairly easy to follow along, and the acting is absolutely incredible. I can see why this movie has received so many Oscars.      From the moment Key Huy Quan’s character Waymond Wong eats an entire stick of lip balm, in order to access the martial arts abilities of one of his counterparts in the multiverse before he absolutely dominates in a fight scene against some IRS security guards using only his fanny pack as a weapon…. Absurdity comes to mind. If felt like a fight scene straight out of a Jackie Chan movie. Shanghai Noon to be more specific. If was awesome and funny and oh so weird. Introduction

     Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog!     Movies have this magical ability to transport us to new worlds and realms as we make our escape into the big screen at our local theater, or the small screen on our bedroom dresser. I have loved watching movies for as long as I can remember, from action packed summer blockbusters to the newest horror flick to grace the shelves at my local VHS rental place. The same excitement that I felt as a kid is no match to the excitement of knowing that thousands upon thousands of movies are just a few clicks aways while sitting on my couch. As much as I still love going to the movie theater and buying overpriced drinks and snacks, nothing beats the convenience that streaming brings to all of us. I mean do you know anyone that doesn’t have a Netflix account. These days there is nothing I love more than perusing the seemingly endless catalog that Netflix, Prime, Hulu, and many others have to offer to find that one underrated gem. I love it all!
